Red Queen (little) Review

Title: Red Queen

Author: Victoria Aveyard

Publisher: Orion

Synopsis: This is a world divided by blood - red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare's potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance - Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart...

REVIEW
My reaction to this book: what    is    this    ???

Before I start reading this book I was all 'omg yes finally' but then... What is this???

The end of this was so damn predictable ! All the events lead us to that end. I was expecting something like BOOM and I received a EW. I want a memorable end, not a boredom one.

I got bored thousand of times, I didn't have that energy to turn the page, I just wanted this to end.

It seems a lot with other books, maybe a mix of them. The way this book is written make me have nerves and want to rip up every page.

I thought it was a really good fantasy book, but I was really wrong. Anyways, I'll give an oportunity to the second book in this serie (when it comes out) to see if it is really that bored!!!

Fangirl Review

Title: Fangirl

Author: Rainbow Rowell

Publisher: Macmillan

Synopsis: Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan...

But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words... And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

REVIEW
This is not my type of book, seriously, but it had some magic that made me love it.
I love the way Rainbow writes. You never get tired, you just want to finish that sentence, and then the next and the next and the next.
It is magic how Cath can stuck you in her world, how she can make us appreciate a whole fangirl thing.

In some situations I find myself finding similar aspects between Cath and me, like how hard is to live in this world full of crap people that doesn't let you be yourself. That is the way she can find the true herself: writing about Simon Snow. Simon never judged her and never would, she lived for Simon and in some way Simon lived for her. It's incredible how Rainbow can show us the best and the worst of the two worlds.

On the other hand we can see how hard is to have a twin and a non easy family. During the book, we keep finding out the different reasons why Cath writes fanfiction. This is not explicit, Rainbow let this whole thing for us to find out.

Do a favor to yourself. Read this book.

How to read more

Hi readers!!!
If you are like me, you tend to not read when you start school because you have a bunch of things to do, but this is not a problem!
First of all, you HAVE to feel that reading is a relaxing thing, you don't have to feel it like a obligation, this is worse.
If you don't feel into reading then just don't read, what if you don't read today? Nobody will blame you !!!
I used to be like this, but this year I started different.
I always carry a book with me, it seems to make no difference but it really does! I read while I'm going to school, I read while I'm coming back home, I read while I have to go by myself somewhere. In the end of the day you read more than a chapter and you will feel better with your reading habits.
Another thing that I just started doing is reading in study breaks. I study for 30 minutes, all focus, and then I read for 5 minutes. It really helps me to concentrate and to feel more motivated to do my stuff.
Just give it a try!!!

City Of Fallen Angels - Review

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*NOT SPOILER*
Wow, this book was awesome, I'm so in love with Mortal Instruments series, I just can't stop thinking about it. The history is always having something new to make us think about it, and sometimes it drives me crazy. We barely get any boredom, it's really awesome.

*SPOILER*
In the beginning it was just talking about Simon, and I was like "okay so do we have a new main character?" but as I kept reading I understood why Cassandra talked so much about Simon in the beginning, it was essential to the history.
The thing that I can't understand that easy is how Maia accepted her ex so easily. Even if he was not him when he was acting, if she was a real girl she would have difficulty accepting him back. For me this is the worst part in the book.
Although all of this, I keep giving 5 stars to this book because WOW, Cassandra always have ideas and is always surprising us. Love it!!!

Why do I enjoy reading in english

As you all know, I'm from Portugal and here translated books can be very very very (very expensive).
So, last year, I found myself reading in english, because a) it is sooo less expensive, with the money of one translated book I can buy two of them in english and b) I like to feel that I'm reading the original words, like the words that came of the head of the author.
And there's so many other reasons! For example, if you read in english you can share the original quotes with almost all the people in the planet that they will understand!
And don't worry if you find yourself bored when you first read in english. When I started, I almost gave up reading in english, but then I kept doing this and now I read it with all my pleasure and I read it fast as I read in Portuguese.
Let me know if you share the same opinion as I!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Review

Harry Potter e a Pedra Filosofal (Harry Potter, #1)Harry Potter e a Pedra Filosofal by J.K. Rowling
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was what I was expecting to be honest.
I know that this book is worldwide appreciated, but it's just not my type.
I liked the way the author writes, but the history it's not that kind that make me wants to turn the page.
Sorry to all the Potterheads.

Series I will NEVER finish

Hello readers!!!
Here I leave some series I will never finish and why.

Im not sure If I can explain myself in a right way, but I hated this book. I feel like it's too much describing and giving importance to little things that maybe wasn't that important while it could be happening a lot of things, like actual action.
I would give 2* to this book because it is bad but not the baddest that I ever read.

This is the worst vampire series ever! I barely read the first book because it was so horrible that made me stop reading. I would give 0* to this book, I don't recomend it to no one.

Well, I just read the first chapter of this, but I really don't want to finish it.
It is not that bad, seriously, but it's not my type of book.
But if you love fantasy, I really recomend it to you.

Later readers!!!
